1	'DDR' (ALL) Part of Schwarzenegger's 2007 Governor's Challenge http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=46036&mode=thread&order=0 Konami continues its fitness initiative in schools as its Dance Dance Revolution game series has become part of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s challenge among all k-12 schools to get California students healthy and fit. Dance Dance Revolution will be part of an all-new fitness center presented to Los Angeles based Marvin Elementary School on Tuesday, September 18. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will also be on hand at the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony and walkthrough of the center that will feature Dance Dance Revolution and other physical activity equipment.

The awards program, sponsored by the Blue Cross of California Foundation, recognizes teachers, principals, organizations, companies, events, parks programs and schools that represent the best efforts in the state to promote physical activity and fitness for California youngsters. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger congratulated the top award winners during a ceremony Tuesday in Los Angeles.

6	River School principal wins bronze medal in state competition http://www.pineconearchive.com/070921PCA.pdf JAY MARDEN — the head of Carmel River School and one of three finalists for Principal of the Year in the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Spotlight Awards — learned Tuesday he won the bronze medal and a $1,000 gift for his school. The money won’t go far in his efforts to improve the health and well being of all River School students, but Marden said he was grateful for the award and honored by the recognition.
7	School honored for athletic program http://www.theunion.com/article/20070912/NEWS/109120151/-1/RSS02 The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports recently recognized Lyman Gilmore School in Grass Valley — among 82 schools statewide — for having the highest student participation in physical education in the county. The middle school on Rough and Ready Highway joined a contest called 2007 Governor’s Challenge Competition early this year that assessed which schools in California have the highest percentage of students active 30 to 60 minutes a day, at least three days a week for four weeks. The conditions of the contest were reiterated in a letter from the Governor’s Council to Principal Brian Buckley of Lyman Gilmore.

Last Tuesday at Marvin Elementary School in Los Angeles, Steinfeld was the Master of Ceremonies at the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Spotlight Awards Ceremony and his enthusiasm was evident the moment he took the microphone. "Do you know that over 10,000 kids took our Governor's challenge last year?," Steinfeld asked his audience. "And this year we traveled up and down the state, visited with schools, kids, principals, superintendents, and I'm happy to announce that over 69,000 children in California took the Governor's Challenge."
